About me
I’ve been designing websites since pretty much the start of the internet. Design was my first calling, being involved with creative activities (drawing, writing and music) since I was a kid, but I learned how to code so I could make my designs come to life. Then WordPress came and made basic coding a thing of the past. Then AI came. So now I can concentrate on other aspects of web presence for my clients like strategy, positioning, and the judgement calls a template can’t make. Any tool can build a page now. Knowing which page your business actually needs, and why, is still down to experience.
The history
I started out in Melbourne, working in a few agencies before being summoned to Dubai to lead an up-and-coming web design department. I spent five years there, including a stint in advertising at Ogilvy, working on brands like IBM, Volvo, British Airways, Fanta, and Sprite, plus plenty of smaller ones. A lot of property developer sites, a few retail and event ones. Pretty much everything.
After Dubai, I freelanced from the outskirts of Chiang Mai, Thailand, picking up clients from the UAE, Australia, the UK, and the States. One even came from Zimbabwe.
Eventually I made my way back to Australia, landing in Queensland just in time for Covid (best possible state to land in). A few years later I ended up on the Sunny Coast, which turned out to be exactly where I needed to be.
Web Design on the Sunshine Coast
I design and build custom websites for businesses across the region who want something a little different. Restaurants, cafes, wineries, breweries, day spas, consultants, tradies. Basically anyone who doesn’t want to look like every other template site out there, whether you’re in Noosa, Maroochydore, Caloundra, or anywhere in between.
I specialise in custom WordPress sites because they actually help businesses, and it’s where I find my creative outlet in this work. Two birds, one stone. I handle everything from brand and logo design to copywriting to the full build, and I stick around after launch too. Site care and maintenance, redesigns for businesses that have outgrown their old site, and WooCommerce builds for anyone ready to sell online properly.
I am the project manager, the creative director, the accounts guy, the designer, the writer, the developer. The guy you talk to before, during and after the project. I’m a pretty easy-going guy. If you want stress, go talk to an agency.
